Digital Painting Brainstorming

  Here are a few images I'm thinking of pulling inspiration from. I like the almost sci-fi feel of them, they feel very abstract and dream like to me. I'm hoping to mimic what dreams feel like and how strange and abnormal hey can be. I'm hoping to focus on Image overload: Crowded and dense composition. The type of dream scape you would conjure up in a feverish state. Scary. silly, Bright, and random.  I hope to inspire curiosity and a little bit of discomfort. Familiarity but you can't exactly tell from where.

Photo Book-Inspiration

 This project has been so much fun for me. Using photo shop and looking at different works from different artists has been so helpful and inspiring. I actually had a poetry/photo book I got a couple of years ago, and I always wanted to do something similar. It’s called “Film For Her” by Orion Carloto. This is my favourite book I’ve ever owned. There is a mixture of photography on film, and also poems written by Carloto. I’ve always found it so inspiring and it’s always made me excited to create art.  There are many photos in this book that she does not show her own face. Like our assignment this feels like a self portrait of her. Filled with her thoughts in the form of poetry, but also filled with her life, her friends, her simple surroundings. I kept this in my mind while creating my images inspired my analog film. I also find another specific piece showed in class very inspiring to my project. Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O’Keeffe, 1919.
