Sunday-Video Project

The prompt that I decided to focus on was “Close-up – intimacy, detail, scale over time, proximity, textures, or small gestures” . Something about this prompt really got me thinking about the power of the lens of a camera. How it can see better than our eyes, that it can capture every detail, even the imperfections we’d rather not show. It reminded me of a superstition or theory that every mole or freckle you have is from a lover in a past life. Now the moles on my body aren’t something I’ve ever really been insecure of but with this idea planted in my head I’ve always appreciated them as something beautiful. My intention with this video was not only to capture and share that idea, but to also use the camera in a way that eventuates these features. I was looking for a mood and atmosphere of love and peace. All of my art is often a reflection of my life at the time it’s created. That’s exactly what this project is, an appreciation for love, imperfection, individuality, and also a closer...

Video assignment behind the scenes

For my video project I was up in Calgary with my partner, I felt very inspired filming in Valentine’s Day and had the idea to make a short video about the topic of love—but wanted to play with the idea of closeness and using the camera to capture as much detail as I could  I ran into some issues as I forgot my tripod at home for my camera, luckily for the later scenes we were able to order one from Amazon. Which is why I was filming on top of a chair with board games stacked on top:) I wanted to write something meaningful for this project, and I chose a topic that I think is really interesting and I’m really proud of how it turned out. Learning to use DaVinci Resolve was super fun, it took my about 2 hours to really understand and get the hang of it, but I’m super proud of how my video turned out. I’m excited to share it on Monday. :)

Video Sketchbook

1. Light 2. Colour 3. Frame 4. Camera Shots and movements  I found that when experimenting with the videos colour and light are very closely tied together. As well as frame and movements. It is interesting to put all these things together in the final video as i was trying to explore lighting and focus.

For our project what had lots of ideas, but all decided on one concept that we thought was really cool. We all brought random objects from home that we thought made interesting noises and ended up picking and choosing which ones were best for the project—we even ended up using some random things that we just ended up having (for example—my pants and that juice container). We picked out YouTube video and watched it on mute so we weren’t influenced on what sounds we thought we should be making. After we figured it all out we watched the video and it was interesting to see how similar yet different the sounds were.  This project was lots of fun, and I think we’re all very proud of what we came up with:)  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=we2YF1J6jxg
