Video assignment behind the scenes

 For my video project I was up in Calgary with my partner, I felt very inspired filming in Valentine’s Day and had the idea to make a short video about the topic of love—but wanted to play with the idea of closeness and using the camera to capture as much detail as I could 

I ran into some issues as I forgot my tripod at home for my camera, luckily for the later scenes we were able to order one from Amazon. Which is why I was filming on top of a chair with board games stacked on top:)

I wanted to write something meaningful for this project, and I chose a topic that I think is really interesting and I’m really proud of how it turned out.

Learning to use DaVinci Resolve was super fun, it took my about 2 hours to really understand and get the hang of it, but I’m super proud of how my video turned out. I’m excited to share it on Monday. :)

  Here are a few images I'm thinking of pulling inspiration from. I like the almost sci-fi feel of them, they feel very abstract and dream like to me. I'm hoping to mimic what dreams feel like and how strange and abnormal hey can be. I'm hoping to focus on Image overload: Crowded and dense composition. The type of dream scape you would conjure up in a feverish state. Scary. silly, Bright, and random.  I hope to inspire curiosity and a little bit of discomfort. Familiarity but you can't exactly tell from where.

Digital Painting Iterations

For my different versions of my digital painting I played with colour grading and different filters to make my image seem more like a coherent painting. While I really enjoy these versions, I felt the filters did too good of a job at making my piece look like a real, not exaggerated painting/collage. My painting is made up of 4 images i found on the interned with one of my own that i used procreate to convert into a more stylized painted version. As said in a prior post I was inspired by Gabrielle Münter’s ‘Jawlensky & Werefkin’. Blending Impressionism and simplified contours with minimal individuality to create a dreamscape that blends reality and art in multiple different ways.

Project One Source Image

  This is the source image I have decided to use for assignment 1. My friend and I went to a place that she calls her “sunset spot”—this is actually a frame from a video we took while sitting and watching the sun set. I thought it could be interesting to try and use the video and capture stills from that video for this project to see how I could change a moment that means a lot to me.  For this project i was envisioning using the source video form of this image to make a piece about memory. Using the sharing of the file through email. Each frame being shared one more time than the last. In a way making a statement about memory and how it fades in our minds, but through technology we are able to keep them clear.
